Dr Steven Smith is an East Tennessee native who grew up in Oak Ridge, TN.
Dr Smith is a University of Tennessee-Knoxville alumnus. He graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis in 1979. There, he was a member of Phi Theta Upsilon and a charter member of the Mid-City Lion’s Club. As a Doctor of Optometry in the Knoxville area, Dr. Smith’s commitment to his patient is ongoing professional education. As technology and the world around us change, he strives to keep up-to-date because he wants to provide the best care possible for your eyes.
Dr Smith worked for many years at the Pearle Vision optical stores in the Knoxville area before taking over the West Town Mall’s LensCrafters’ doctors office. In 2016, He merged his office with the Carlson EyeCare Center and joined their team.
Dr Smith has been a member of the American Optometric Association, The Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, the East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians, ALLDOCS, and various other associations throughout his career. Dr Smith was a member of the Pearle Vision Optometric Advisory Council for five years. He received Ciba Vision’s Innovations in Contact Lens Patient Care Award. He served on the Acuvue Leadership team and participated in the speaker’s panel and new product studies. He has donated hundreds of hours of volunteer time through the OneSight organization.
Outside the office, He is an instructor for Operation Boot Camp Knoxville. Dr Smith is a world traveler and enjoys learning how nutrition and exercise affects health.
